Shortlist
The shortlist keeps the players you have your eye on in one list, and the game tells you when another club offers one of them a contract or when he signs, is traded, released or retires.
On this page
The shortlist is the players you want to keep an eye on: a free agent you may sign later, a player you would like to trade for, a prospect for the youth draft. You see them in one list, and you hear when something happens to them.
Shortlisting a player
Press Add to shortlist in the Actions menu on the player’s page, or in his panel. The same place then offers Remove from shortlist. Both act at once, with nothing to confirm.
If a free agent interests you but you are not ready to make an offer, shortlist him: you hear when another club makes him one, and you can still act. If a player you want is held by another club’s rights, shortlist him too, so you hear when those rights run out.
You can shortlist skaters and goalies at any other club, or without a club. Your own players, and players whose rights your club holds, can’t be shortlisted. You need a club in the world to keep a shortlist there.
On the free plan the shortlist holds up to 30 players, counted across all your worlds; with Premium there is no limit. When you reach the limit, the game tells you, and you make room by removing a player.
Reading your shortlist
Your shortlist is under Shortlist in the Transfer Center (Transfers in the sidebar). Skaters and goalies are listed apart, best Overall first. Press Remove on a row to take a player off.
Each row shows his age and Overall, and on a wider screen his nationality and club, or Free agent. For a player under contract it adds his trade value, in pips as on the trade screen, and his trade status. For a free agent, the status reads the interest in him: Hot when a club has an offer out to him, Warm when several clubs have him on their shortlist, Cold otherwise. Every club’s shortlist counts toward it, yours included. A player who has retired since you listed him reads Retired there instead.
The list shows established players only. A player under 18 stays on your shortlist but does not show here.
What you hear about
You get a notification when another club offers a player on your shortlist a contract, and when a trade offer that involves a manager’s club includes him. You also hear about his moves: when he signs, extends his contract, is traded, released or placed on waivers, and when he retires. When a club loses its rights to him, the notice tells you that you may now offer him a contract. All of it arrives in your notifications.
When he signs with your club, or your club trades for him or drafts him, he leaves your shortlist. When you leave a club, your shortlist in that world is emptied.
Prospects and the draft
You can shortlist a draft prospect too. On draft day your assistant adds the prospects on your shortlist to your draft list, after the players already on it. How the draft list picks is on youth draft.
Worth knowing
- Your interest is felt: shortlisting an ambitious player at a club in a lower league than yours can leave him Flattered by outside interest, and less happy where he is; see player form and happiness.
- A player under 18 counts toward the free plan’s limit, though he does not show under Shortlist in the Transfer Center.
- If Premium ends, the free plan keeps the players you added first and drops the rest.
